Artist Exploitation in the Hitech Psytrance Community
For years, my music and name have been exploited without my consent or compensation. Now that I’ve uncovered the full extent of this, I’m taking a stand against a powerful festival and label that have profited off my work. This fight is about more than just one release—it’s about standing up for all artists who face exploitation. Your support means everything.
Dear friends, fans, and supporters,
I want to take a moment to share an important update with you. Recently, I discovered that my music and name have been used without my consent, proper acknowledgment, or fair compensation. This has been a deeply challenging experience, both professionally and personally. My music and my brand are an extension of who I am, and to see them exploited without respect for my work has been devastating.
The Journey So Far: A Fight for Fairness
Back in 2016, I entered into an informal agreement with a festival to release a compilation. At the time, this was intended to be a small-scale project. However, I only recently discovered that my work—both my music and my name—has been sold and distributed on a much larger scale than originally agreed upon. Despite this significant expansion, I was never compensated for the use of my creations.
Since uncovering this, I’ve made attempts to address the situation formally, reaching out to the parties involved to resolve the matter. However, I’ve been met with silence and deflection. The two organizations behind this distribution continue to act without transparency or fairness, and to this day, there has been no acknowledgment of my role as the compiler of the compilation or my music’s use in this project.
The Toll on My Well-Being and Career
As an artist, my music is deeply personal. To see it used to generate profit without my consent or proper compensation is not just a financial loss—it’s a violation of my creative integrity. The emotional and professional toll this has taken on me cannot be overstated. The stress and frustration of seeing my work exploited in this way have impacted my mental health and made it harder to focus on my art.
This isn’t just about one project. It’s about the broader issue of exploitation in the music industry, where independent artists often face significant power imbalances. Too often, creators are treated as commodities by larger entities that exploit their work, assuming they won’t—or can’t—fight back.
Why This Matters: The Bigger Picture
This issue affects more than just me. It’s a widespread problem in the music industry, especially for independent artists who lack the financial and legal resources to stand up to big labels and organizations. Labels and festivals often prioritize profit over fairness, with little regard for artists’ rights or well-being.
I refuse to let this go unnoticed. This fight is not just about my music—it’s about standing up for every artist who has been exploited in similar ways. It’s about demanding respect, transparency, and fairness for creators in an industry that all too often overlooks them.
What’s Next: Taking a Stand
I’ve decided to take a stand for myself and for all artists who have been treated unjustly. While I can’t share all the details right now, I am committed to pursuing justice and ensuring that my voice—and the voices of other creators—are heard. This will not be an easy journey, but it’s one I’m ready to take.
In the coming weeks, I’ll share more updates as the situation develops. Your support means everything to me, and I encourage you to help raise awareness of these issues by sharing this story. Together, we can work toward a future where artists are treated with the respect and fairness they deserve.
Thank you for standing with me. This journey will be difficult, but with your support, we can make a real difference.
💜 With gratitude,
Parandroid
